The blush period

Why a single colored dot became the whole signature of this site.

Most brands collect motifs the way people collect tote bags — until nothing means anything. I wanted one small thing and only that.

The period in mar.baby is blush. Not the whole word. Not a logo lockup with a bouncing icon. Just the stop at the end of the affectionate nickname, tinted like lipstick left on a napkin. You notice it once, then you start seeing it in pull quotes, on the 404, in the quiet places where a sentence finishes and means it.

Restraint is the luxury. Milk paper. Ink with a brown undertone. One accent used like jewelry, not like a theme. No turquoise — that belongs to the farm. No glassmorphism. No Inter pretending to be personality.

Typography does the rest: Fraunces for the titles that need a little breath, Helvetica Neue for the UI that should disappear. Reading measure around sixty-eight characters so the eye does not sprint. Mobile first, because most intimacy happens on a phone in bed.

If the period feels like too little, good. Too little is the point.

Mar writes mar.baby and mar.farm.
